Origami in Flight

This is actually an old idea I had a year or two ago. I'm not sure if I posted the original drawing or not, but this is like a version 2 of the idea, I guess. I've had this idea to turn it into a story for awhile now and maybe I'll finally get around to writing it.

Christmas Cards 2009

It's probably a bit early, but here are the two designs I have for Christmas cards for this year. They're three dollars a card; each card is roughly 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" in size. The back of the dragon cards has my contact info. The snowman card has the kid running on the front and the snowman on the back so it opens up to show the whole scene, which a few people have told me is pretty cool. Anyone interested can e-mail me: bhongillustration at (@) gmail dot (.) com.

Sidenote: The photos are exactly amazing 'cause I'm really bad taking photos and my camera is over 5 years old.

Winter Wonderland

I think I should have waited until December 1st to post this, but oh well. The first winter illustration of the seasonal cycle 'cause I did create some witner illustrations all the way back in Jan and Feb. I thought the idea was funny when I drew the first thumbnail.

HEAL!

A quick sketch in honour of my computer being fixed.

Skating Sheep

Job hunting has been preventing me from drawing more as well as computer health problems, which should be fixed now, well the computer health. I should hopefully get some more winter/Christmas stuff sooner or later before year's end.

Thoughts and Gold

This is a fun little illustration I wish I had gotten around to finishing the rest in the series. It was meant to be a birthday present for a friend that I run out of time to make. I had a lot of fun making some of the illustrations in it including this and this . It was a lot of fun to work with ink and use a lot of hatching again; in some ways, it was a learning experience to figure out the pen some more. There's always more to learn.

Lamb and Fish

The top illustration I designed for a friend's Christmas card and had to end up modifying the finished illustration, which this one is the original illustration, 'cause they never got back to me on time. Luckily I had some old patterns I ended up using for the background so it wasn't a lot of extra work, but it sure annoyed the hell out of me when people don't reply back on time and then ask for relatively big changes. Oh well ... The second illustration was for an idea of fairy tale characters after the little red riding one I did earlier this a month or two ago, but it didn't pan out too well. I decided to modify it to more of a scene, which ended up as the sleeping beauty illustration.

Skating

And the winter illustrations are starting now even though it's still really nice outside, (finally some nice fall weather) and winter isn't only until 4 days before Christmas, the archaic form of X-Mas.

Sleeping Beauty - Finished

I've been finished for awhile, but haven't found the time to upload this yet. I want to do a few more illustrations like this on fairy tales and will hopefully get around to it before year's end.

Walk in the Snow

I draw when I can't sleep, which sort of means I'm an artist according to one of my profs from when I was still in school. To paraphrase him, J.C. Knaff, "You know [when you're an artist] when you'd rather draw than go to sleep." But I think all artist, of any kind (visual, written, musical, dramatic, etc.) have always said roughly the same thing, that what makes an artist is that drive to not quit and keep on going. I should get some sleep, I can badly philosophical when I don't have enough.
