Violinists

This took a bit longer than I had planned 'cause I, unfortunately, got a bit lazy and sidetracked a bit working on it, but I liked how it turned out. I stuck with a simple colour scheme and in truth, there is only 3 major colours in the piece: blue, red and green (which are the 3 primary colours in lights). Well onward to the next piece. More musical fun awaits.

Music - Violins

I think this started a long time ago with a small sketch in a sketchbook somewhere. I could never figure out how to draw hands holding a violin since the position is a bit odd and hands are just hard to draw, at least to me. Stylizing it solved a lot of problems and I liked how the pose turned out. It's a "line" piece of illustration in that the lines really help make up the illustration.

Ski Break

So here's another working on illustration. I'm enjoying these "widescreen" views lately. I should get set to do a rainy scene for the upcoming spring.

Vespa

I'm almost finished this piece. I'm liking the night mood. It's fun and there's something serene about going for a ride in the night all alone regardless of wherever you're going.

Music

Both illustration is roughly the same in the scenes. The second one was a rough sketch that I liked too much to not take to a finish though it's feeling a bit bare at the moment. I've got one more illustration planned that I hopefully won't take too long with.

a comfy chair

"Comfy" is an odd word 'cause it always looks wrong to me even when it's spelt right. Anyway, this is the pose I wanted to do. The rough overlayed over the illustration really does cover up a lot of the subtle gradients I'm working with.

Shapes & Models

Here is a really rough test I did to see if a posed work 'cause I was having the hardest time drawing it out in pencil. I need the shadings and shapes to let me know if it could work. It's very stylized and art deco-ish in my mind, but it's looking cool. My next illustration will be based on that pose and I really wish I had a model 'cause I don't feel ashamed to admit, I'm not the best with thinking up poses out of my mind. I've got my own sense of anatomy and sometimes it works and sometiems it's just "wonky" as my old life drawing teacher put it.
